What data we collect

Data you provide

  • Contact details submitted via forms (such as name and email, if requested).
  • Message content you send to us (and attachments, if you include them).

Data collected automatically

  • Approximate location (city/region), general network information.
  • Device/browser data (device type, OS, browser, language, screen resolution).
  • Usage data (pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, clicks, referrer).
  • Cookies and similar identifiers (cookies, local storage, technical tokens).

How we use data (purposes and legal bases)

We use personal data to operate Portal News, keep it secure, understand aggregate usage, and respond to messages. The legal basis depends on context and applicable law (including Brazil’s LGPD and, where relevant, GDPR/UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws).

  • Site operation: deliver content and maintain functionality (legitimate interests; requested service).
  • Security: prevent abuse, troubleshoot, maintain logs (legitimate interests; legal obligation when applicable).
  • Analytics: improve usability and performance (consent where required for non-essential cookies; legitimate interests where allowed and configured accordingly).
  • Communications: respond to requests and feedback (consent; legitimate interests; requested service).
  • Compliance: meet legal requirements (legal obligation).

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences (when applicable), and understand aggregate usage.

Cookie categories

  • Essential: required for basic functionality and security.
  • Functional: preferences (when applicable).
  • Analytics: helps us understand site usage and improve pages.
  • Advertising: not used at this time (see “Advertising”).

Your choices

  • Cookie banner / settings (if available): accept, reject, or customize optional cookies; change your choice later.
  • Browser controls: block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Blocking some cookies may impact site functionality or reduce our ability to improve the site based on aggregated analytics.

Tools we use

Google Analytics (GA4)

  • Purpose: understand traffic and aggregate usage patterns to improve site structure and performance.
  • Data involved: cookie identifiers, device/browser information, and usage events (page views, clicks).
  • IP addresses: Google states GA4 does not log or store IP addresses; we may still see approximate location insights (city/region) depending on configuration and region.

Microsoft Clarity

  • Purpose: improve usability via analytics such as heatmaps and session recordings (replays), helping identify friction points.
  • Data involved: device/browser data, usage events, and identifiers (including cookies where enabled).
  • Consent in certain regions: where required by law, we rely on consent for non-essential cookies and related tracking.

Advertising

We currently do not display ads and do not use advertising networks on Portal News.

If we introduce ads in the future, we will update this policy and our cookie controls before or when that happens.

Sharing and international transfers

We share data only as needed to operate and secure the site and run analytics (for example, hosting/security providers and analytics providers).

Because we are based in Brazil and use global providers, data may be processed in other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards recognized by applicable law.

CCPA/CPRA: We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising at this time (we do not run ads). If that changes, we will provide required opt-out controls.

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above and as required by law.

  • Contact requests: typically up to 12–24 months after resolution.
  • Security logs: typically up to 6–12 months.
  • Analytics: retained according to tool settings and minimized where possible.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, and the ability to withdraw consent (where applicable), subject to legal limits and identity verification.

To exercise your rights, please contact us through the official contact channels available on the website.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): Where legally required or recognized, we seek to honor opt-out preference signals. Because we do not currently run ads, this typically has limited effect beyond cookie preferences and analytics controls.

Children’s privacy

Portal News is intended for a general audience and is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top.

Contact and complaints

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, please contact us through the official contact channels available on the website.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority (for example, Brazil’s ANPD under LGPD, or other regulators depending on your location).

This policy is provided for transparency and does not constitute legal advice.
